Poland and Ukraine

Kiev
Sporting action takes centre stage again as the UEFA Euro 2012 Football Championships help turn the world’s attention to the underappreciated delights of co-hosts Poland and Ukraine during June.

The cities of WarsawKrakowGdansk and Poznan in Poland and KievDonetsk,Kharkiv and Lviv in Ukraine are all hosting games, and whether you’re interested in football or not there will be a real buzz about them before, during and after the event.

Both countries are using the opportunity to showcase their appeal well beyond the last kick of a football, and appeal they certainly both have. With their diverse histories and beautiful architecture (think the gothic castles of Poland and the Russian-inspired domes of Ukraine), there is so much to explore in these neighbouring yet distinct countries. And while they’re both on a football-inspired high, 2012 is the time visit.
